RI Health Reminds Rhode Islanders to Get Flu Shots
Rhode Island’s Department of Health is reporting two influenza-related deaths occurred in January, the state’s first of the 2013-2014 flu season.
Director of Health Michael Fine, M.D. reminds us that “everyone older than six months of age should be vaccinated against the flu every year”, and that even for those not already vaccinated this year, it’s not too late.
There have already been 129 flu-related hospitalizations in Rhode Island to date this flu season. RI Health advises that there is “still plenty of flu vaccine throughout Rhode Island”, and that adults may be vaccinated either at their doctor’s offices or a local pharmacy.
As a firm that deals with aging seniors, or with adult children responsible for their aging parents, this is a good reminder that flu shots can be an excellent preventative step towards keeping our loved ones healthy!
