Guardianships

Many clients come to us when a loved one can no longer make financial or health care decisions for themselves, but have left the client no tools to do so for them. In some of those situations, a procedure known as “guardianship” is necessary.

As a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives in the 1990s, Mark Heffner chaired a legislative commission which substantially revised and modernized Rhode Island’s guardianship laws. This extensive knowledge of guardianship laws and procedures, together with decades of experience practicing in the probate courts, enables Attorney Heffner to help our clients gain the ability to make the necessary decisions for their loved ones as efficiently as possible.
