Jacqueline L. Grinnell Paralegal

Jackie has been a paralegal with Heffner & Associates since 2000 and serves as the “go to” paralegal on Medicaid matters. She walks clients through the steps towards Medicaid eligibility and prepares all required documents for applications and redeterminations.

Clients who are facing long-term care costs for their spouse, parent, or other loved one rely on Jackie to help implement the tailored Medicaid plan which she and Attorney Heffner design for each client. She meets frequently with clients during the process, and communicates on behalf of clients with care providers and the Rhode Island Department of Human Services.

Jackie enjoys seeing a client matter through from start to finish, until the client’s goals are achieved. Her greatest satisfaction comes from being able to tell clients: “Don’t worry — we have it covered.” Jackie has a great respect for members of “the Greatest Generation” and other elders, and her dedication to their needs drives her love for this work.

Jackie is originally from Middletown, Rhode Island. She is a Portsmouth High School graduate who earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island and has always pursued interests in service-related fields. Prior to her career at Heffner & Associates, she worked in elder outreach for a not-for-profit agency and served as director of social services in a nursing home.

Jackie currently resides in Portsmouth with her husband Ron and her two children; they are her primary outside interests. She has also pursued teacher training in yoga, and she sang for many years with the Newport Navy Choristers.
